Different Tree Fertilizers

Growing trees in this period in time is highly recommended, not only as a way of going green, but also to add a little color to the landscape and aesthetic appeal as well. Most homeowners wouldn’t mind a couple of trees in the backyard, or if space permits it, around the home area and in the distance. Modern establishments and poor soil conservation efforts have led to the depletion of some needed minerals in the soil. And since you still want to go through with your tree planting project to perfection, you might want to consider using of tree fertilizers to improve on the mineral composition in the soil.

There are different types of tree fertilizers that are available in the market today. The first and most general classification is organic and inorganic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers record a natural origin, and are manufactured from plant and animal products. Fine examples include bone meal, fish emulsion and seaweeds. These are usually the best recommended eco-friendly fertilizers that are available in the market today. They have no effect on the environment since they are all natural. The only disadvantage is that these take longer to get absorbed in the soil, since decomposition has to first take place. In addition they might be bulky since a lot is needed to provide the right amount of nutrients. Establishing the mineral composition is somewhat a task too. And when it comes to the pricing, they are relatively expensive as well.

Inorganic fertilizers are the cheaper, more available option. These contain minerals that are artificially manufactured, so their precise concentrations are easily established. There is a wide range to choose from, with the most basic one containing NPK which are initials for indicators of concentration of nitrogen phosphorous and potassium. These are the most important macronutrients needed by the plants, and that are usually absent in the soil. The disadvantage with these is that they are not as eco-friendly, and can be overdosed in the plant when applied in excess.

For inorganic fertilizers, you have to choose the form you buy them in-they could be liquid or granular. Liquid fertilizers are good in that they are easily absorbed in the soil. They need regular administration as they are easily leached. Granular fertilizers are more common, but they need rain for them to be dispersed into the soil. The precaution you are supposed to take is ensuring that the fertilizer is not in direct contact with the plant as that may lead to scorching.
